Lessie Sanders married Asa Boyd McCarver (b. 2 December 1894; d. 1979). T. A. Boman, Justice of the Peace, performed the ceremony while Lessie and Asa sat in a buggy in Mr. Boman’s yard. Lessie was a full-time homemaker; Asa was a farmer and later worked as a bailiff at the Courthouse in Vernon, and at Morrow’s Furniture Store in Vernon. Asa’s mother and step-father, Alex Perkins, bought the place formerly owned by George Harrison Sanders north of Vernon and lived in the house he built. After several years, Lessie and Asa moved in the house with them to help look after them. Mr. Perkins deeded the place to Asa and Lessie before he died. Lessie and Asa are both buried in the Sanders Cemetery near Vernon, AL. Lessie and Asa had the following children: (Byron-1914, and Hershell -1916, both died as infants and are buried in the Sanders Cemetery near Vernon.)
